About Us
Hahn & Hessen's practice encompasses nearly the entire spectrum of financial and commercial transactions. Our experience includes representation of financial institutions in all aspects of business transactions. Our firm possesses a unique strength in those situations where the creditworthiness of our client's existing or potential borrower, counterparty or customer is of concern.
Hahn & Hessen is mid-sized in terms of number of attorneys but not in approach or sophistication of practice. Founded in 1931, our clientele include over thirty of the largest financial institutions in the world. We believe these clients come to us because of our knowledge and understanding of the types of finance transactions in which they are engaged and our responsiveness and practical approach to problem solving.
Although internally we are organized around different practice groups, these practice groups interact extensively in servicing our clients' needs. Our ability to call upon the experience of attorneys throughout the firm enables us to provide our clients with the full range of services for their matters.
We pride ourselves in being energetically "hands on", and staff matters efficiently as a result. This allows us to provide quality legal services at reasonable costs.
Active in bar and professional organizations such as the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys, The Bond Market Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute, to name but a few, we are regularly asked to lecture and publish in the areas of our expertise. In addition, as an approved Continuing Legal Education provider we are often called upon by clients to provide internal training seminars.
Training of less experienced attorneys and continuing education for everyone at the firm is of prime importance to us. As a firm we far exceed existing requirements regarding continuing legal education. The educational opportunities afforded our attorneys has enabled most of our lawyers to easily accrue a multiple of continuing legal education hours required.
In our view, although collegiality within a law firm is a quality which is difficult for clients to measure, its absence can greatly affect the work product which a firm can produce. We believe collegiality is easy to spot at Hahn & Hessen LLP and enhances our ability to service our clients. Our partnership has had a remarkably stable existence and many of our partners have worked together for years in an atmosphere where the needs of the client, not the ego of the partners, comes first and foremost.
We are strong advocates of diversity in the legal profession and endeavor to hire attorneys accordingly. We also believe that the most productive attorneys are ones with balance between their personal and professional lives and we try to set tasks with that in mind.
